My photography journey began in my hometown Seattle, Washington USA around age sixteen, when I purchased my first “real” camera, an inexpensive Russian-manufactured Zenit model E, which was loosely based on Nikon cameras of that period.  I used the venerable Kodak Kodachrome slide film, shooting primarily street scenes.
When I reached my twenties and began my career in the software industry, I had the opportunity to visit many places.  I transitioned to Canon and their AE-1 SLR camera.  I gravitated to travel/adventure photography in the United States, Europe, Japan, and even Nepal. I accumulated over fifty 140-slide capacity Kodak Carousels from that period.  That’s on the order of 7,000 images!
As my photography skills and the technology both evolved, I made the switch to DSLR cameras, and eventually to mirrorless cameras.  I loved the digital world of immediate feedback (did I get the shot?) and the ability to fix (process) my images in a computer instead of a wet lab.  In 2012 I signed up for a one-day workshop and fell in love with the unlimited potential for landscape photography.  In the succeeding years photography has enhanced my love for travel, both independently and through organized landscape photography workshops and tours.
In 2020, when nobody was going anywhere in the early days of COVID-19, I concentrated on improving my post-processing skills, primarily with Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.  I happily discovered a new level of creativity within me.  I am no longer limited to just fixing faults in my images but can now additionally add a variety of creative elements to the images for a better experience.  It is incredibly satisfying, and the timing couldn’t be better to make landscape photography a real passion in my retirement.
In 2022, I had my first opportunity to fly a drone and am discovering this new tool for creating unique images as well as videos.
Thank you for taking the time to let me share my journey.  I would love to hear from you.
